APC is excited to announce that the youth programs now have a full-time youth director dedicated to building on the successes of the last few years and giving you - the young people and parents - more in the coming year. For more information on Pastor Daniel Velez-Acevedo, keep scrolling down, but first, here are the programs for you:
King of Kings (Grades K though 4)* - 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning Sept. 17.
Rock Solid (Grades 5 through 8)* - 4:45 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning Sept. 18.
The New Disciples (Grades 9 through 12)* - 4:45 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays beginning Sept. 18.
King of Kings (Grades K through 4) provides a foundation of faith, hope and love by bringing elementary school children together for fun and formational experiences designed to inspire them for their future. It runs after school from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday afternoons starting September 11, with additional family friendly events to be announced.
Information for Parents/Guardians interested in enrolling their child:
This program offers recreational activities, a family style dinner, and the chance to learn about Jesus and the Bible in a fun way. Your children will have the opportunity to establish friendships, develop faith and reach out into communities by loving their neighbors. Parents/Guardians my stay for dinner with the expectation that they will participate in the program for activities and/or the devotional activity.
There is a nominal fee to participate of $2 per week per participant, but family discounts and financial assistance is available. Transportation is available upon request with appropriate permission from parent/guardian in advance.
Rock Solid (Grades 5 through 8) builds a community of faith among a diverse group of young people through activities and service to help them navigate a complex world. It runs after school from 4:45 p.m to 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons for 30 weeks throughout the school year with special events planned for some Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.
Information for Middle-School-Aged Youth interested in participating:
This program is cooperatively run by you, the students who elect officers to represent you in guiding the program throughout the year with the church's volunteers and staff. A typical Wednesday afternoon features activities, dinner, a bible study and closing business meeting. You will have opportunities to participate in activities outside of the church which you will choose and plan, including bowling, roller skating, ice skating, mini golf, Ocean City boardwalk, canoeing, surfing, hay rides, corn maze, movie nights, and more. You will also be involved in mission projects and fundraisers to make an impact beyond your weekly group.
There is a nominal fee to participate of $2 per week per participant, but family discounts and financial assistance is available. Awards are given at the end of the year based on participation. Transportation is available upon request with appropriate permission from parent/guardian in advance.
The New Disciples (Grades 9 through 12) is a new group for high school aged youth. This group builds the King of Kings and Rock Solid experience by bringing diverse leaders in training together for activities and service projects that will empower them to be part of the solution in this world. It runs after school from 4:45 p.m to 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons for 30 weeks throughout the school year with special events planned for some Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.
PASTORAL ASSOCIATE FOR YOUTH MINISTRY
We want you to meet Pastor Daniel Velez-Acevedo. His official title is Pastoral Associate for Youth Ministry and he is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary. He is also a native of Puerto Rico who loves being back by the beach after several years inland at Princeton. He is excited to get to know the young people and families of King of Kings, Rock Solid and the NEXT program.
