In Living Color - Read Romans 6:3-14
I jogged around the neighborhood today and enjoyed the beautiful colors and scents of autumn. The red, orange, and peach colors of the fall leaves look like fireworks reaching toward heaven. As I cooled down after my run, I thought about the fact that the leaves only look like this when they're dying. That's a strange concept. Soon they will drop and wither on the ground. While the snow rests gently over them during winter, they will decompose and fertilize the soil to nourish new plants in the spring.
This is part of the cycle of life that God created. A similar transition faces every Christian who walks with God and wants his or her life to be used for God's glory and purpose. As we die to ourselves and live for Christ, our lives begin to take on the beauty of Christ, just as the leaves take on the exquisite colors of autumn. The process is not without tears and pain, but how wonderful the joy come spring when everything is born anew with fresh hope, promise, and deeper growth!
